Great food, excellent service. Came here today for the first time in a couple of years. The last time, I wasn't very impressed with my wrap (which isn't on the menu anymore). Today I had the Turkey Bistro on sourdough. It had a mountain of turkey, tomato, lettuce, swiss, sliced fresh avocado (not that plastic fake spread some places call avocado) with mayo and mustard. The portion was huge and I only ate half. The bread was soft and very good. And they served it on a glass plate, not some basket with wax paper. The interior is a little... welll... kinda weird. All the tables had table cloths which was nice and it was clean. But it seems like it used to be a bank or a doctors office at one time. I think a little paint and some better decor would liven it up a bit. I'll be back a little sooner next time

Gigantic sandwiches huge portions, delicious! They even have a food challenge, you eat the entire sandwich you get the name it.

WOW! Thanks Yelp for another good find. I came here for lunch with my husband after using our Yelp apps in our iphones to search for good places nearby. At first it looks intimidating when you walk in - tables have nice crispy clean white tableclothes and it's beautifully set up as a nice little bistro. First thing that got our eye were the HUGE cookies, tasty looking cakes and beautiful pastries. We checked out the menu and they serve different soups daily, and we were told that their menu changes pretty regularly too. I order a quiche that came with a green salad and fruit - so yummy and fresh tasting! My husband got the soup of the day (tomato basil) with a half a sandwich (BLT) and chips. We couldn't pass trying the desserts: an even HUGER brownie (four times bigger than an iPhone) and a delicious slice of Italian mascarpone cake. OMG. I want to go back just by thinking about it! I definitely recommend this place, especially for lunch. One can get sick of eating $1 burgers or $1 chili soups everyday and if you can splurge on an $8 combo of super delicious healthy food at least once a week... why not? PS. If you must take your lunch break by yourself (I thought I would be the only one but there are lots of lonely eaters out there at lunch time!) I must say this place is very nice, quiet, not crowded, and a great spot to have a nice peaceful lunch reading your book or just be able to hear your own thoughts :-)

La Sage is the best kept secret in Ft. Union. Excellent sandwiches and soups. I've never been disappointed. Every visit has been excellent.

I was very impressed with the food--everything was homemade and fresh. Chicken salad on croissant with avocado, fluffy quiche with perfect crust, lots of seasonal fruit, interesting salads, etc. Service was good; the owner made our experience great. They should take down Christmas decorations and install booths and real tables instead of using folding chairs and tables.

Awesome mom & pop type sandwich shop. The service is always great! I've been here multiple times and it's always good. It's simple and basic, which sometimes is exactly what you need. The egg sandwich and chicken salad sandwich are my favs. Don't forget a chocolate chip cookie when you go!

Well, after leaving an honest review... I received a lengthy private message from reviewer John S. John S doesn't know how yelp works... and is likely the owner/employee/family of La Sage Bistro sending a rebuttal (also NOT how yelp works). I'll post it below and you decide. I don't own a restaurant. I'm not competition. More importantly, I'M YOUR CUSTOMER giving honest feedback that you ought to consider. You can see I'm a real customer by my profile and years of reviews. -- that's how Yelp works. John S joined last month and has one - FIVE STAR review of La Sage Bistro. HEY JOHN S., people love the smell of bacon, but they don't love smelling LIKE bacon. You (the owner/server) wear way too much cologne for someone who likes smelling like bacon... #realcustomer The interior looks like a cafeteria. #realcustomer You have a sandwich that customers get to name if they can eat the whole thing. There's a posterboard display with photos by the boring bakery display as you walk in. #realcustomer I had the chicken salad based on your City Weekly signage and it was fine. I was asked if I wanted to add avocado and bacon. What year did you win? #realcustomer There are cartoonist drawings of 2 kids above the front window. #realcustomer There's an ugly oak tall cabinet in the corner with mismatched thrift store stuff on it. #realcustomer Yelp-o-sphere... Here's the message he sent, you decide. Then for fun read John's first and only glowing review. (I'm sure he'll start posting more shortly as #proof) Hi Rachel, John S. sent you a message on Yelp: Subject: La Sage Bistro "Dear Rachel, You should be very ashamed to spread such a false information about La Sage Bistro. La Sage Bistro one of my favorite places. My family and I been there a few time since we discovered them and never been disappointed in food quality and service. The food is always fresh and delicious, makes you want to come back again and again, knowing that you will get good food and not going to get sick after you get home. There are many big names restaurants than serve you food out of box or the bag. And La Sage Bistro is one of the places that still makes it old way, from the scratch. When it comes to the ambiance, yes it is not a 5 star restaurant, but still you should not say anything, it is not your business, unless you are ready and willing to write a big check for them to remodel the way you want it to look. You do not go to somebody's house and tell them that they need to remodel. If you do not like it you just don`t go back. It is a local and family operated restaurant and the owners take a big pride in the food they serve and the very friendly service. The owners are very nice, friendly and hardworking people. So they tried to create home feeling and most people like it, because I heard many times customers complementing them on the ambiance and especially a quiet and nice music, where you do not have to yell to hear each other. Where you can come and relax or have a meeting or just visit with friends or family and have a good delicious food and good volume for the very reasonable prices. But if you would like better ambiance, then you should go to any of those fine dining places, where they really don`t care if you like it there or not, because to them you just a $$$$ sign and pay arm and leg for the value that you get at La Sage Bistro. Smelling like some fried and greasy food, is not so true also because they don`t fry anything, so there is no deep fryers or any greasy food. And that is one of the best parts of La Sage Bistro, they do not have any greasy and unhealthy food. Once I a while you smell bacon and last time I checked most people love the smell of bacon. I believe you are very confuse, because everything you wrote is non about La Sage Bistro that I know, and believe me that I do know them So all you said tells me that you are the competition and you afraid that they have better food than you, or somebody who had try and it did not go well and you had to close or somebody pay you to write such a false and untruthful review. No true at all and what so ever. You probably never even been at La Sage Bistro. Because if you would go there and try their delicious food and they treat you like they know you for long, long time and very happy to see you every time you there, you would probably not write such untruthful review. They even know most of their customers by name. And you know what, if they would be as bad as you describe them, they probably would not last as long as they have which is almost 10 years and they would not be known as Salt Lake Best Chicken Salad by CITY WEEKLY. We got to know the owners and I guess they`ve been making the people of Cottonwood Heights and surround happy for many years. So once again shame on you."

Delicious dinner rolls! Sandwich's are delicious and prices are just right! Décor could be a lot better, since the outside is adorable, and inside the tables remind me of banquet dining, but I am not there for the décor. The chef is talented and it shows in the food. Desserts so far have been wonderful!

This place is delicious! Make sure to bring your appetite, because the servings are HUGE. We came across this restaurant by using Yelp and UrbanSpoon. The reviews were all great and to our surprise it was only a couple miles away from our house. (Win-Win) We ordered the popular chicken salad sandwich and The Club. The service was fast, friendly and we never had to ask for drink refills. Now my husband thinks he's an expert on chicken salad sandwiches. His only two favorite spots to order these from are Village Baker and some deli in San Diego. So after lots of hype from the other reviewers and the award for best chicken salad sandwich in the restaurant, he decided to order it. I had a bite and thought it was amazing. He loved it as well and this bistro is now in his top 3 places to go. However, he still thinks VB is #1, but this is a VERY close 2nd. The Arnold Palmer's were refreshing and all though we didn't have room for dessert at the time; we did get a brownie and lemon bar to go and they were delicious. (Again huge portions) Seriously this is a great hidden gem. Prices are reasonable, all the help is friendly and the restaurant is clean. We can't wait to go back and take our friends.

Holy crap! Thank you yelpers, I wish I would have found this place a long time ago, sadly I am moving out of state and this will be among the top things I miss. The service was amazing the chicken salad sandwitch and chicken noodles soup were insane, and thr place has a real nice romantic feel. You need to eat here, you will not regret it!

La Sage Bistro is a small restaurant/cafe in the Fort Union area that serves up HUGE portions for lunch and dinner. I've eaten here a few times for lunch since they're so close to my work. Their club sandwich is piled high with meat and cheese on fresh sourdough bread and it's more than enough for two meals! The staff and owners are very friendly and eager to please. Besides sandwiches, salads and soups they also have freshly baked breads, cookies, cakes and other delicious treats!

I've lived a mile away for a few years and never went in because I judge book by their covers. I mean, from the outside, it's not much. When you walk in the the first thing you see is the dessert counter. Yum. So we sat down and I ordered the club and the man ordered the chicken salad sandwich. Both were huge and came with chips. I could only eat half, but I wanted to eat it all. The folks who work there are pleasant and work hard. The prices were very good. I will walk there whenever I can, but we'll split a sandwich so we can fit dessert in next time.

This place is rad. They serve giant sandwiches like chicken salad, turkey club, BLT, pulled pork, grilled chicken. Served on a variety of breads like a giant croissant, sour dough, or kaiser buns. They also do enormous salads, delicious soups, and a few entrees. They have specials too. Just thinking about it makes me want to go there! This is one of the most fairly priced restaurants I know of because they give you a crap-ton of food. $6-7/person +drink/tip. Certain days they have free drinks, or buy on get one deals. There's also an in-house bakery with delicious cakes, cookies, brownies etc. All jumbo-sized of course. The owner is friendly, and will help you with whatever you need. The atmosphere is slightly off--but still welcoming. At lunch time it's moderately busy. They also do special dinner nights a lot. Never been to one yet, but I hear they're good. You can also order pounds of their food to-go, like the potato salad, or chicken salad. And they cater.

Met a business associate here for lunch. Servings are huge as other reviewers stated. Server very friendly. The sandwich wasa so large that I took half home and ate it for dinner!! I ordered the vegetarian sandwich-hummus, cucumbers, tomatoes, romaine, swiss chesse on whole wheat bread.

Awesome food and good people. I was in SLC for 3 days and I ate there twice. The first day I had the Pasta de la Fresca; I was worried that the garlic cream sauce might be too rich but it was perfect. The tomato, bacon and peppers complemented the whole meal. The 2nd day I had the Salmon salad...besides a generous portion of grilled salmon, it comes with all fixings for a very reasonable price...I recommend having it with Ranch dressing. I am not usually a dessert eater, but watching the other patrons eat it...I had to try something. So i shared a brownie, lemon bar and coconut cake....I can't tell you which "homemade" dessert was better because they were all GREAT! The servers were very attentive. They made sure our bread basket, water, drinks were always filled. The owner also came around to make sure our experience was favorable. Reasonable price, excellent food, yummy dessert and good people - what more you can ask for!!!!

Had the club sandwich. It was delicious! I will definitely be back. The service was also great, and we received free dessert (a brownie cheesecake type dessert that was excellent) as the friend that took me today was somewhat of a regular. They have won another customer through excellent food and service. And they will make your sandwiches however you want. If you want a cold sandwich hot, just ask! Highly recommended.

Chicken salad sandwich, the size of your head. Friendly Italian owner, and never crowded. Lemon bars to go are a must!

Very nice, family-run, and for the very hungry! Portions are large, and the food is familiar and well-prepared. Save room for their desserts.

My cup..er..plate runneth over. Thems are some big sandwiches. Not like, inappropriately big... but big. And not like a couple of bucks cheap, but still pretty cheap. Ya, here it's about the value. They're not particularly complicated sandwiches or anything, but you get some bang for some bucks. I stopped in for a lunch to catch up with an old friend, and it was the perfect venue for that. He and I both ordered sandwiches, and chatted away in the oddly laid out space. It works fine, and you're not here for ambiance. The menu has more than just sandwiches, and it's got a little international flair to it. But I stuck with the basics and munched some turkey. There are several bread options, and I'm not sure you can go wrong with any of them. I went with a wheat (?) and liked it just fine. There's something to be said for small, aerodynamic sandwiches, but I prefer the curves on these sexy ones. Mmmm good!

After 2 failed attempts at trying this place out, I decided to finally call first and see if they are catering. Luckily they were open. There was only one other table besides us, doesn't seem like it gets that busy since they close at 4pm before the dinner rush. Loved the Malibu chicken, it is very similar to Sizzler's. Loved the sauce, on it. The potato chips were kinda odd for a side, was expecting some pasta or a small salad. All in all the food was very delicious and fresh, the service was excellent. I would love to try out their catering some time.
